Since it ban was lifted just recently, Jamon has taken off like wildfire in Australia. With it being one of the most sought after Spanish delicacies this summer. The ham, which comes from Spain is treated with superior care. The Iberian pigs that are to become the ham are fed acorns prior to slaughter to ensure the taste is perfect. The ham is then dried in salts for 14 days then left to hang and cure for 15 months. After this it is ready to eat. Jamon is usually sliced thinly and eaten alone. Its taste is amazing and should be something to put on the shopping list for snacks around the Barbecue. But be warned, jamon is not a cheap ham. So make sure you make it last.
