High-visibility clothing is a type of safety equipment which has high reflective properties or features a color that is easily recognizable from any background. A typical example is the yellow waistcoats worn by emergency service workers. The surface of the fabric may also have retroreflective stripes that make them much more visible in the dark.  The patterns of the stripes also help discern between people and objects. In most cases, particularly those operating in hazardous environments, workers are required to wear head gear mounted mirrors to maximize visual awareness.

For added visibility during daytime, very bright colors are normally used for the main body of the clothing with the use of fluorescent material. People who usually wear high-visibility clothing are those working in poor lighting or weather conditions, or when they are needed to work in places where there is a lot of moving equipments. Examples are construction workers, motorcyclists, paramedics, firefighters, police, rail workers, etc.

High visibility clothing come in the form of vests, jackets, trousers, weather coats, fleeces, boiler suits, rucksacks, body warmers, caps, beanies, etc. These clothing items can also be embroidered or printed with the name of the workers or the company logo.
