The Kia K2900 takes the place of the K2700 with a 50 percent power upgrade, enhanced comfort and a greater load-carrying ability. The K2900 is an excellent truck and does an excellent job hauling cargo. The rear steel deck is 3.11m long and 1.63m wide. The deck is relatively low at just 761mm from the ground. This configuration is quite handy as it makes it easy to load all sorts of cargo.
The K2900 is equipped with a 2.9 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine designed to produce more power than the superseded K2700. The new engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and is able to generate 92kW of power at 3,800 rpm and 245 Nm of torque at 1,500-3,250 rpm. These figures may not be awe inspiring but they are definitely adequate for the K2900. Cruising along at highway speeds, the K2900 rolls along effortlessly with more than enough power to overtake.
The K2900 comes with air conditioning, electric windows, FM/AM radio and a CD player. The center seat also has a fold-down back that functions as a flat workspace for documents. Once the rear is loaded, the K2900 rides just like a quality mid-size sedan. The seating position is very good and quite comfortable. The turning radius is excellent despite the truck’s over 5 meter length. Visibility is also commendable, thanks to the absence of a bonnet in front of the cabin. In addition, driving and parking are no dice for the K2900 because you’re sitting well above the rear tray. Overall, the Kia K2900 is a pure form of transport especially for a trader who needs a practical and affordable worker. Now you know why the K2900 has outsold its rivals for the last six years running in Australia.
