Kia’s K2900 is Australia’s least expensive light truck and has outsold its rivals for the last six years in the country.
The K2900 has a 2.9 liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which is a welcome improvement over the 2.7 liter engine in its predecessor, the K2700. The engine has 92 kW of power and 245 Nm of torque. The figures may not sound very impressive but once you hop on the K2900, you’ll probably won’t crave for more.
The cabin of the K2900 offers excellent visibility and parking this truck is quite easy owing to the absence of a bonnet in front of the cabin and the fact that you’re sitting above the rear tray. The dashboard features silver metallic looking plastic surrounding the HVAC and audio controls. Other interior features include individual driver’s bucket seat offering slide and recline movement with the passenger and center seat being a joined bench set up. The K2900 also comes with standard air conditioning, AM/FM radio, single CD player and 2 speakers.
The rear tray of the K2900 is pretty impressive as the rear and side gates can easily be dropped or removed to provide a perfectly flat bed. The tray’s dimensions of 3,110 mm in length and 1,630 mm in width are by far better than its competitors. The payload is 1,481kg with the tray fitted and its fuel economy is pegged at 10.2 liters per 100 kms.
