Olive Oil Types

Olive oil is a Fruit oil created from the olives from the olive tree. The olive tree is originally based in the Mediterranean basin region. Olive oil is used in cooking, cosmetics, soaps and pharmaceuticals.

There three grades of retail olive oil, including;

  • Refined Olive Oil – Is produced with chemicals. This neutralized the acids and creates a better taste. Refined olive oil is regarded worst than virgin olive oil.
  • Extra-virgin olive oil – this is created by physically cold pressing the olives, This type of production does not use chemicals. This oil has less that 0.8% acidity.
  • Virgin olive oil – Same production as Virgin olive oil and has an acidity of less than 2%.
  • Pure olive oil – this is normally a blend of virgin and refined olive oil.
  • Olive oil – is a mix of refined olive oil and virgin olive oil.

Olive oil is used by millions for cooking and offers health benefits, The Spanish are the highest users of olive oil followed by Italy and Greece. It is enjoyed by millions and is regarded as one of the main ingredients of cooking.
